First Conference on Global Value Chains, Trade and Development
Description
The production of most goods is increasingly organized along global value chains, in which different stages of the production process are fragmented across countries. Recently, the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) established a research network on Global Value Chains, Trade and Development, with the goal of stimulating research on the important and timely questions raised by the emergence of global value chains. In line with its global strategy for trade and competitiveness, the World Bank Group (WBG) supports developing countries’ efforts to connect to GVCs to produce more and better jobs, greater opportunities for domestic suppliers, increased exports, and higher productivity. Together, the CEPR and the WBG have joined forces to foster debate and collaborations in this area among researchers in both academic and policy institutions.
