The University of Geneva (UNIGE) and the (UNOG) invite you to the third session of the UNIGE – UNOG Conversations with Academia series. This session focuses on sustainable infrastructures. Infrastructure underpins global economic and human development, conditioning the capacity of countries and cities to meet their SDG targets. The types of infrastructure deployed and their interactions can have major impacts on the climate, terrestrial and marine biodiversity, and the ecosystem services that support human well-being. In addition, the design of infrastructure projects also produces different social impacts, including on employment and the reduction of poverty and inequalities. Consequently, infrastructures deployment, operations and retrofitting are critical to achieving the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
This interactive session takes stock of the latest research on the transition to sustainable infrastructures, recognizing both the challenges and the opportunities that remain in ensuring critical infrastructures help to achieve the SDGs, and to support sustainability agendas.
