Efforts that ADB has put in place to Accelerate climate adaptation in Africa.
Over the years, globally we have been experiencing climate change. As a result of it our livelihood has also dramatically changed. African growth has also been compromised in different ways, for instance, signs of locusts swarm in East Africa was shocking.
As now we can see and feel this challenges, it now a call to everyone to act and deliver on acceleration of climate adaptation as action requires partnerships.
As said by the President of The African Development Bank , Mr. Akinwumi Adesina , that action in the ground cannot be done without finance and that African Development Bank is at the forefront of climate finance of Africa. Africa Development Bank has also increased the percentage of climate financing from 26% in 2016 to 55% by 2019.
As a result of African Development Bank working together with it's other partners , it has established the global center of adaptation in Africa. This is to mobilize 25 billion dollars for transformation action on climate adaptation.
He also says its time for developed countries to meet 100 billion dollars per year in climate finance promised to developing countries by the late Secretary General Kofi Annan.
