WTO can not intervene in national policies despite the ‘illegal’ plays?

Free trade has also neglected considerations of the environment. For example: Free trade has allowed goods from countries with the least environmental protection to be imported. Some criticise the WTO's ideology that optimizing GDP is the most significant economic goal. Increasing GDP could be the least relevant in an age of global warming and possible environmental catastrophe. WTO should do more to promote environmental considerations.

Bertrand Piccard emphasizes that “WTO should be the major actor for survival of human kind”. Penalize junk trade in order to get the priority to the quality trade.
