Making informed decisions! How to get everyone involved and engaged ?
One of the first things I do every morning is looking at my weather app on my phone. I also look outside to see what the weather is like.
This morning routine helps me to plan my day and even decide what clothes to wear.
In the weekend if the weather looks sunny, I might visit the zoo or go on a picnic. A rainy day, I might make think about visiting a museum or staying home to read.
Accurate, timely, accessible and simple "to understand and digest" weather report is critical in the decision-making process for every person, business or government to be able to make informed decisions.
The impact of having reliable weather Apps that provide "localized" weather forecast information is also key, especially for developing countries.
The challenge is now how to get more users? How can disadvantaged communities - without internet and mobile device- get access to this vital information. WMO Weather Apps Awards is a great initiative that should be applauded. Let's continue to find other creative and smart ways no to leave anyone behind and get everyone involved and engaged!
