Journey to Mountains.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), its Wild for Life campaign, and its Vanishing Treasures programme , invite you on an amazing virtual journey which takes you across four mountain regions to visit and learn about some of the iconic endangered species that roam these wild spaces.
In many places, people depend on mountains for water – either coming from melting snow or ice or from mountain springs feeding rivers a good example is Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania East Africa, (WWF findings).
Mountains are also the source of inspiration of revolutions and theories that have changed the world, from Moses, Budha, Jesus to Bolivar, Napoleon or the Gran Khan. So, whether metaphorical or not, mountain imaginaries have defined present civilization.
