Faiths calling for climate action NOW

"What upsets you most about the climate crisis?

For me, it is the indifference I see. Inertia. Selfishness.

Last week, another alarming climate science report from the IPCC was published, showing that things are even worse than we feared. Irresponsible governments, corporations, and climate deniers have pushed us closer than ever to the brink of disaster.

How can we look away? Why are we not more upset? Why does this not get us out of our chairs, onto the streets to hold those in power responsible?

At GreenFaith, no matter our spiritual beliefs, we are all moved by compassion, justice, and love. We also believe in putting our faiths into practice. Too often I hear "First, others have to do more; otherwise my contribution won't matter." But we know that by stepping out in courage, we can experience the liberating, healing, empowering sensation of being the change.

As a person of faith, I feel deeply connected to all children of God. My faith teaches me that "God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good" (Gen 1: 31) I believe that creation and humanity are indeed good, and worth protecting.

We must open our hearts and minds toward a global humanity and creation, and allow ourselves to become compassionate toward our brothers and sisters. The climate crisis threatens us all; we need to work together. This feeling of urgency and concern motivates me to make Faiths 4 Climate Justice a stunning and powerful global action.
