Covid-19 vaccine scarcity in Africa
The corona pandemic has affected every country in different ways but one thing we can all agree on is that it has no borders.
Since the roll out of the vaccines first world countries have been able to vaccinate almost 70% of their population while Africa as a whole has only been able to vaccinated less than 5% of its population.
Various factors contribute to low vaccine administration in Africa. The major factors being scarcity as most third world countries have no access to the vaccine.
Other reported issues include the lack of funds, lack of trained professionals and hesitancy among the population to get the vaccine. In addition, many countries are not able to reach priority groups because they are not equipped with up-to-date registration systems that allow to locate and register these priority individuals.
