UN DECADE ON ECOSYSTEMS RESTORATION
Following the UN Decade on Conservation of Biological Diversity is the UN Decade on Ecosystems restoration, a decade aimed to set an ambitious bar for an increased momentum so as to foster revival and restoration of the various and distinct ecosystems thriving round the globe. The decade envisions action by various stakeholders; governments, academia, businesses, civil society and local communities into a common restoration pool that should spark off and ignite the momentum for a green recovery.

Chiefly led by the UNEP and FAO, the decade is a global call to action for which all parties have a chance to contribute towards building a resilient and just World for all.

In light of occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World is at an awakening call at the adverse impacts the pandemic has posed onto the global economy and production systems. The pandemic has also shown that ecosystem loss is a highly critical driver of unhealthy human ecosystems. Evidently, creating harmony with nature is more than just a responsibility for all, it too sways beyond a planetary emergency.
While countries and various stakeholders take on with high gears and commitments to achieving and attaining the objectives of the decade, it highly calls for commitment by people all round the globe to play their part towards the cause.
This decade is also set to spark off the regime of a green economy aimed to heal the world.
The launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem restoration, featuring World leaders, religious leaders, conservation leaders and musical artists among others is set to bring everyone on board and leave no one behind in its implementation.
