Impacts of COVID 19 on Menstrual Health and Hygiene

SDG 3

Since the onset of COVID 19 pandemic, there have been direct and indirect negative impacts to humans .The global economy has been significantly affected mainly through loss of jobs and government's channeling resources to mitigate the pandemic. Girls' and women's ability to manage menstruation health and hygiene has also been compromised. This depends on a country's social protection and health systems. The most vulnerable come from the poorest communities. Prior to the pandemic, numerous organisations had set up interventions to improve menstrual health and hygiene but most of them were scaled down once the pandemic hit. Reducing access to menstrual hygiene products and information.
Although COVID 19 is a relatively new phenomenon that might require more resources , the world should not ignore other pertinent issues like menstrual health and hygiene (MHH). MHH can be streamlined to COVID 19 mitigation measures making it a win-win situation for everyone.
