THE AFRICA I KNOW
#Africa # worldafricaday
Africa is the world's second largest continent.
However few people outside Africa know much about it due to distortion of its image especially by major global news network that seek to project it as a continent filled with poverty, disease, corruption, war and hopelessness.
The Africa I Know is different.
I know of Africa that is the cradle of mankind.
A home to the earliest great
civilisations like Egypt, Kush and Axum.
Africa is a continent full of rich and diverse culture with very warm and friendly people.
The 'Ubuntu' culture originated in Africa. It is translated to 'I am because we are'. It is an awareness that a person's actions today are a reflections on the past and will have far reaching consequences for the future.
The continent also boasts of leaders revered the world over.
From Nelson Mandela of South Africa to Ellen Johnson-sirleaf of Liberia to Haile Sellasie of Ethiopia and not forgetting Kofi Annan the great diplomat who was once head of United Nations.
Africa is home to one of the most magnificent and unique collection of animal species.
The big 5 that is leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros are all found here.
These are our continents graetest assests that needs to be protected.
We have a duty to let the world know of this other side of Africa.
