How global warming is affecting extreme weather events.

SDG 12 SDG 13 SDG 14

Due to human activities, global temperatures have risen by about 0.97°C between 2009 and 2018. This has been accompanied by new records set in hotter days as heatwaves and extreme forest fires are more common as seen recently in Australia and United States of America. Coastal flooding, hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones are also more frequent and devastating within this decade.
Scientists are in agreement that while daily weather conditions are as chaotic and unpredictable as ever, changes in climate are increasing the likelihood of these catastrophic weather events occurring. By reducing damage to our environment we can slow down Earth's temperature rise and mitigate the effects it has on our civilisations.
