Women's empowerment as a tool against hunger
Food security is defined as having four main components: availability, access, utilization, and stability. Women play key roles in maintaining all four pillars of food security: as food producers and agricultural entrepreneurs; "gatekeepers" who dedicate their own time, income and decision-making to maintain food and nutritional security of their households and communities; and "managers" of the stability of food supplies in times of economic hardship.
In many countries women supply most of the labour needed to produce food crops and often control the use and sale of food produce grown on plots they manage. However, the gender disparities in ownership of, access to, and control of livelihood assets (such as land, water, energy, credit, knowledge, and labour) negatively affect women's food production
Given these challenges we must empower women by providing them with modern agricultural education and skills, providing them with subsidies and reliable capital in agriculture, assuring them a reliable market for their produce, as well as technological assistance from agricultural equipment such as tractors, pesticides. agriculture and quality seeds that are drought tolerant and resistant to various diseases
policies and laws should also be used to protect women in land tenure, especially in Africa
Together empowering a woman we liberate the world from the scourge of hunger
