climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture for food security
#SUSTAINABLEAGRICULTURE #ZEROHUNGER
Food security is an outcome of the food system leading to human well-being, which is also indirectly linked with climate and ecosystems through the socio-economic system.
Many people in African countries derive their livelihoods from agriculture. Therefore, unfavorable environmental and climatic conditions render them more vulnerable to increasing food insecurity and poverty rates
Farmers use adaptation strategies such as organic fertilizers, changing planting dates and growing of short duration maize varieties to mitigate against the negative effects of climate change
