Forests act as a source of food, medicine and fuel for more than a billion people.
In addition to helping to respond to climate change and protect soils and water, forests hold more than three-quarters of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, provide many products and services that contribute to socio-economic development and are particularly important for hundreds of millions of people in rural areas, including many of the world’s poorest, (CIFOR Findings).
Apart from above analysis, forestry has played a big role in availability of water in my local areas. Beneath the shores of Mount Kilimanjaro there is a natural Forest reserve in which it's provide water to all villages around the mountain.
Not only that but also the the Moshi - Kilimanjaro town and nearby other towns depend the sources of water from the Kilimanjaro forest reserve. When we are getting ready to celebrate the World Forest Day let us all remember these important tips then to shake hands together to ensure sustainable development of our FORESTS.
