A tribute to everyone affected by climate change and to our MOTHER NATURE
The irony about climate change is that it equally affects those who contributed to it and those who didn't, we are all vulnerable to the actions we didn't raise our voice for, we saw our leaders cut trees for roads and we were silent calling it development, we saw oceans and rivers polluted and we said we are not from the coast trees are cut for fields and we celebrated because we would be fit and have fun, we saw parks and reserves shrink and the we said animals will survive... We are sorry not sorry for everyone that is silent about destruction of our common home, the place we all met
To our leaders who do this in expense of the economy, we see you and the effects will affect all of us, we will be the hummingbirds and we will March to fight for our Mother nature,
To the green warriors cheers to the good fight that we still fight may our voices be heard, our actions be seen and acted on and our march will one day pay off
To everyone that lives in the planet you won't migrate soon, this is our home and we are the ones who were commanded to be stewards. Let's all rise up for action
WELCOME TO THE BATTLEFIELD
It is estimated that within 100 years, there will be no rainforests.
Agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation.
One and a half acres of forest are cut down every second.
Forest area (% of land area) in Kenya was 7.82 as of 2016. Its highest value over the past 26 years was 8.30 in 1990, while its lowest value was 6.25 in 2000.
"Forest area is land under natural or planted stands of trees of at least 5 meters in situ, whether productive or not, and excludes tree stands in agricultural production systems (for example, in fruit plantations and agroforestry systems) and trees in urban parks and gardens" FAO
"Under the strategy, Kenya needs to plant 1.8 billion seedlings between now and 2022 to achieve 10 per cent tree cover." KFS
