Different covid vaccines have different dosage. There are single dose vaccines and double dose vaccines. Its important to follow the recommended dosing schedule especially for multi-dose vaccines.While a single dose offers some protection, it is below levels needed to achieve herd immunity and it is not known exactly how long protection lasts. Therefore, getting individuals to return for a second dose as soon as they are eligible will offer the best route to achieve the highest level of protection as quickly as possible.
