SDG 8 SDG 15 SDG 17

According to Domingos Gove, Director of the Agricultural and Natural Resource Department, SADC, 50% of the GDP in most African countries is based on Natural resources. Additionally, about 75% of rural communities depend on natural resources derived from wild lands and wild sources. The SADC recognizes that sustainable utilisation of natural resources is dependent on trans-boundary co-operation, thus a high political commitment as a prerequisite.
Majority of international boundaries across the globe have not taken into account considerations of natural boundaries, but rather artificial. These are highly significant in many African countries resulting into unsustainable components and consequently conflicts. TFCA components straddle two or more countries, thus mandated to foster collaborative wildlife resource use and management, enhance ecosystem integrity and ecological processes by harmonizing land use practices across international boundaries, socio-economic development through sustainable use of natural resources across borders. This strategically presents a call for regional integration and collaboration.
